A Little about Me
"This web page is brand new, and as it said on the front page, still under construction."
Those were the words that first graced this page when it went online almost two years ago. And (un)fortunately, soon they will be true once again. I've done a decent job with this little bit of the web, but 10mb has its limits. I've decided to upgrade to a new page, with a better server, and some actual space. Actually, a LOT of space. 10gig to be exact. Hopefully by the time this is online, you will have found it digging around on the homepage of Www.StmTrolleyguy.Com. At least, that's what I hope to have accomplished by tomorrow. And now, to return to the perfectly good (okay, so it needs work, but it's low on the list) original introduction.......
As
you have probably noticed,
the subject is almost exclusively trains,
most of
them from the Seashore
Trolley Museum.
I
am a volunteer at the Seashore
Trolley Museum, and
I am a
fully qualified junior motorman
and conductor.
The
Junior part applies because
I am under 18, so I cannon operate
a
streetcar on a revenue trip with
passengers ,
although
I am allowed to run the
streetcars without any passengers aboard.
Often
during
the
summer I operate and conduct
the trolleys, along with giving tours of the museum.
In the
winter, I volunteer in the
restoration shop doing whatever needs to be done.

It
brings
me great sadness to
report that my Pentax died in service last year, bringing
to an
end a long career of taking
photographs. Luckily, I've had good luck in
finding
a replacement, another
Pentax, although a slightly newer model.
(Update
1-2006) : I've since tried a Pentax K1000. I'm seriously
considering acquiring one for myself. Only $200 for a really
good
condition used body.......)
I
have won an award for a black
and white trolley photo at the
Boston
Globe Scholastic Art Awards,
a competition that is sponsored
every
winter for schools across
the state to submit the best
art,
photographs, or textile works
for judging. Gold key winners go
on to
nationals, but my photo only
won silver. There's always next year!
Okay,
next year has come and gone.
I've now got that second award,
this
time a gold key (for 2004).
I've been a little slow with the
updates
here.
I
live in in the Boston,
Massachusetts area, about 10 miles
north
of the city. The town
I live in used to have 3 local trolley companies,
all
though they were all scrapped
by 1931. The town also used to have
the
Boston and Maine railroad line
that ran from Boston to Portland, ME.
Included
was a station (now a real
estate office, still standing in
yellow
and red paint), and there
used to be an 8 engine roundhouse, and
9
tracks of passenger car storage.
